THE NEW HONDA FURY FIRST LOOK...........

As hard as it is to believe, this is the Honda Fury, recently unveiled at the New York Show. A proper chopper, it uses the motor from the VTX1300. As, er, furious as it looks, the Honda is a clever motorcycle. The seat height isn't actually a slow as it looks, neither as the forks raked out as much as they look. Honda even chose to forego the 240-section rear option to put in a 200 and maintain some handling. The engine itself displaces 1312cc, is liquid cooled and is hung from a chopper-spec frame ith a single disc at each end and, surprise, the fork is adjustable for preload and rebound. That gas tank, by the way, managed to squeeze in about 13 litres of fuel so you could, in theory, travel a fair bit on the Fury.

FASTEST PLANE OF THE WORLD .....BLACK BIRD

The BlackBird 3-Times the speed of Sound
-------------------------------------------------
The Lockheed SR-71 is an advanced, long-range, Mach 3 strategic reconnaissance aircraft developed from the Lockheed YF-12A and A-12 aircraft by the Lockheed Skunk Works. The SR-71 was unofficially named the Blackbird, and called the Habu by its crews. Clarence "Kelly" Johnson was responsible for many of the design's advanced concepts, with the SR-71 being one of the first aircraft shaped to reduce its radar cross section, although its radar signature could be tracked by contemporary systems unlike later "stealth" aircraft. A defensive feature of the aircraft was its high speed and operating altitude, whereby if a surface-to-air missile launch were detected, standard evasive action was simply to accelerate. The SR-71 line was in service from 1964 to 1998, with 12 of the 32 aircraft being destroyed in accidents, though none were lost to enemy action

Concorde
-----------
The AƩrospatiale-BAC Concorde supersonic transport (SST) was the more successful of the only two supersonic passenger airliners to have ever operated commercially (the Tupolev Tu-144 being the other).

The development programme was a product of an Anglo-French government treaty, with 20 aircraft built. The costly development phase thus represented a substantial economic loss. Air France and British Airways were subsidised to buy the aircraft by their governments, while other sales were blocked by the 1973 oil crisis and competition from the Boeing 747. However, overall, Concorde made very large operating profits for British Airways.

First flown in 1969, piloted by Andre Turcat,[2] Concorde service commenced in 1976 and continued for 27 years. It flew regular transatlantic flights from London Heathrow (British Airways) and Paris Charles de Gaulle (Air France) to New York JFK and Washington Dulles, flying these routes at record speeds, in under half the time of other airliners. Concorde also set many other records, including the official FAI "Westbound Around The World" and "Eastbound Around the World" world air speed records.

As a result of the type's only crash on 25 July 2000, world economic effects arising from the 9/11 attacks, and other factors, operations ceased on 24 October 2003. The last "retirement" flight occurred on 26 November that year.

Concorde remains an icon of aviation history, and has acquired an unusual nomenclature for an aircraft. In common usage in the United Kingdom, the type is known as "Concorde" rather than "the Concorde" or "a Concorde".

Future Planes 5 time the speed of Sound

Son of the Concorde
------------------------
apan and France are to work together to develop a successor to the retired supersonic jet aircraft Concorde.

Companies from the countries will split an investment
of $1.84m-a-year for research over the next three years, Japan's trade ministry said.

The agreement to develop the new passenger plane was signed at the Paris Air Show, Japan added.

The new plane will have 300 seats and cut the flight time between New York and Tokyo to six hours, reports said.

Japan's trade ministry also said the two sides would work at solving the problems that plagued Concorde, such as noise and high-fuel consumption.

Successful tests

"This is truly significant industrial co-operation," Japan's trade minister Shoichi Nakagawa said in a statement.

"Bringing their respective advantages together... should lead to the ability to offer highly advanced aircraft and services in the future."

Concorde

In depth: Farewell Concorde

The ministry added that Japan had successfully tested an engine that could theoretically reach speeds up to five times the speed of sound.

Concorde flew at mach 2 - twice the speed of sound. It never recouped the huge amounts invested in it by the time it was taken out of service, after 34 years, in 2003.

However, French airline Air France was one half of the Concorde team, and the country will bring its own technological knowledge of the supersonic jet to the table.

The deal also represents a break with Japan's habit of working with US groups in the industry.

"To research closely in this area with the Europeans does represent something new," said Yoshio Watanabe, an official with the Society of Japanese Aerospace Companies which is heading the new initiative in Japan.

However, while Europe's Airbus is currently the world's biggest commercial airliner maker, US group Boeing said it was placed to beat its rival.

Market battle

Scott Carson, Boeing head of sales, predicted it would overtake Airbus's four-year lead during the year.

He added that the advance was thanks in part to the creation of a new unit that helps airlines fill gaps in its fleet, which Boeing put in place after losing orders from "a company or two late last year".

The beefed-up sales team has helped Boeing win a number of key orders as it waits for its new 787 Dreamliner to roll off the production line, with companies such as GECAS replacing Airbus jets with Boeing aircraft.

The twin-aisle Dreamliner will not start flying commercially until 2008.

Airbus and Boeing have been involved in a bitter struggle for orders since a slump in the industry began in 2001.

The two are also locked in a trade row over alleged levels of state funding, which has been taken to the World Trade Organization.

AMAZING CAR U CAN DRIVE AS WELL AS FLY

At just under 20 feet long, seven feet tall, and with a wingspan near 30 feet, this land-and-air-craft promises to run equally smoothly on the road as it will in the clouds.

What can fit in a typical garage, drive down to the nearest airfield, and take to the air without missing a beat? The Transition, due to debut this summer at just under a quarter of a million dollars from the Terrafugia company.

The new vehicle belongs to the category of roadable aircraft that have appeared on drawing boards and as prototypes since the invention of flight. But this version fits in highway lanes and travels on the ground at car speed. In the air, it's expected to have a 460-mile range at 30 mpg and with a cruise speed of 100 mph.

Yamaha YZF R15 Review

When i went to the autoexpo 2008 i visted the yamaha section there i saw this bike looking pretty much similar to the R1 thats R15. I just loved the way the R15 looked. and the hype was almost too much to resist for me. i was so very tempted that i even thought of selling off my pulsar 220 and booking R15, it was just too tempted. and the way yamaha designed their website for r15 was amazing with countdown timer and all. finally the day when the bike was launched, i literally hurried to the showroom to get my hands on the r15.
the moment i entered the showroom, there was a blue R15 standing infront of me, or so i thought. at first glance, believe me, i thought it was, in all probability, a scaled down model of R15 and not the real bike. the reason…………. the bike is just too small. i mean just too small. it looks much like a circus bike which dwarfs ride.
I was literally heart broken. i was expecting a huge monster looking bike but what i got is a monster-ling.
Now We Get Into Some Technical Info
Engine
YZF-R15 is equipped with this all-aluminum cylinder called the DiASil Cylinder and a forged piston, the same type of piston used in YAMAHA’s supersport bikes. The fact that both the piston and cylinder of YZF-R15 are all-aluminum ensures excellent heat dissipation, eliminates heat-induced engine power loss, and helps improve fuel efficiency. The DiASil Cylinder is given a special surface treatment to prevent oil evaporation from the cylinder’s surface and improve oil consumption. The cylinder also has excellent hardness and is considerably resistant to wear compared to conventional iron sleeves.
Additionally, the piston is made in a forging process, the optimum way of achieving lightweight designs. The reciprocating mass with the forged piston is approximately 20% less ( according to Yamaha test ) than with an engine of the same displacement fitted with a conventional cast aluminum piston. Resulting in an invigorating feeling when revving up. Conventional pistons are typically made in a casting process where molten aluminum is cast in a mold. YAMAHA developed its proprietary “controlled forging technology” in 1997, which enables mass production of forged aluminum pistons. These pistons have been used in sport models such as the R series. The same manufacturing process was used to develop YZF-R15. Forged pistons retain the excellent strength of aluminum alloys because the metallurgic matrix of aluminum is not affected during the fabrication process. Therefore, the piston can be made lighter and thinner.
Chassis
YZF-R15 is equipped with a linked type monocross suspension that delivers a comfortable ride and a cushioning performance that is less prone to bottoming out. In particular, it reduces annoying “sinking” when riding tandem. The linked monocross suspension consists of a link mechanism sandwiched between the rear arm and cushion unit to create changes in the lever ratio based on the lever effect. When the shock absorber is almost fully extended, the lever ratio is high and therefore the spring is soft, and the damper works softly as well.
As the shock absorber strokes in, the lever ratio gradually decreases and the spring rate increases. Eventually, when it is nearly fully stroked in, the lever ratio becomes small and the spring becomes hard and strong. The damper also becomes hard. By making changes to the lever ratio in this way, we were able to achieve soft riding comfort as well as excellent damping under intense load conditions. The optimization of the frame and rear arm rigidity of the Deltabox Frame combined with the effects of the linked type monocross suspension achieve good riding comfort, agile handling, and turnability, hardly ever causing bottoming out.
Fuel Efficiency
In order to maximize the efficiency of the fuel injector, which injects the optimum amount of fuel for different amounts of intake air, YZF-R15 is equipped with a large 3-liter air cleaner. The duct area of the intake duct was designed optimally to optimize the flow of intake air. Additionally, the use of a 4-valve combustion chamber (a combustion chamber with 2 intake and exhaust valves each) has allowed designers to layout the spark plug at the center of the combustion chamber for better flame propagation. This also increases the total valve area relative to the 2-valve chambers for improved intake/exhaust efficiency (volumetric efficiency). YZF-R15 is fitted with a hemispherical 4-valve combustion chamber, a configuration that allows intake and exhaust valves to be laid out in the smallest size possible.
Following are some performance figures of Yamaha R15:
1) 0-60km/h : 3.0 sec
2) 0-100km/h : 9.0 sec
3) Top speed : 145km/h
4) Fuel economy : Around 35-45kmpl
Summary
On features front this bikes is really awesome. An Indian bike enthusiast this one is really very good. But the main problem with this heavily powered bike is that its small and for those who are tall this is not meant for them. But if you just want a high performance bike with decent fuel efficiency then you should go for this. And mind you this ones gonna carry a price tag of about 1 lakh which is really very high for 150cc bike but then again its a yamaha with best acceleration. But before going for this you must consider Karizma and Pulsar 220.
